Eric Porres
Chief Operating Officer, Underscore Marketing LLC
As the first partner to join Underscore Marketing, Eric brings his award-winning creative, marketing and strategic skills to the company. Eric's knowledge of the media business is wide and deep, having been with a number of traditional and interactive media companies, including AOL Time Warner, The Walt Disney Company and Live Technology. In 2003, he co-founded Pericles Consulting, an online political marketing organization that has worked for presidential and state campaigns. He is also a published writer, having written about the interactive industry for iMedia Connection while with Underscore.
He has also spent time on the agency side of the business. At Agency.com, as Senior Project Manager, he successfully led global project teams to deliver award-winning interactive experiences for such brands as Sprint, Gucci, Goldman Sachs, MetLife, Lucent, Lipton and American Express.
Eric has also coordinated and facilitated development efforts with international partners for multinational events. For example, as partner with Outrageous Media, he and his partners produced two of the largest Internet webcasts in history, Michael Jackson’s "What More Can I Give" concert in Munich, Germany in 1999 and Paul McCartney’s "Run Devil Run" concert in Liverpool, England in 2000.
These were prepared, priced, pitched and produced with significant online and offline marketing initiatives, webcasts, and post-production products. As a result, in 2000, he won both a W@MMY (awarded by the National Academy of Recording Artists & Sciences) and a Yahoo! Internet Life award for the McCartney concert.
A graduate of Duke University with degrees in philosophy and markets & management studies, Eric has spent time at MIT/Sloan School of Management to hone his marketing and management skills. He has also been a guest lecturer at Long Island University.
Truly a world class media and marketing generalist, in his free time, he is a triathlete, chess enthusiast, Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (a.k.a. ninjutsu) member and practitioner (currently graded to 5th dan), and webmaster for www.bbdojo.com. He is also a classically trained concert pianist under the study of Dwight Peltzer. With the rest of his copious free time, he tries to blog at www.porres.com and started www.nygrapes.com, a wine tasting group and Web site for interactive marketing professionals on the east coast.
Last but not least, Eric is happily married and has two great daughters.
